Jumping on my soapbox, one thing that really annoys me is the fact that they always show old movies at the wrong speed, making it appear that early movie makers couldn't work out how to get the film speed correct.
Originally, films were recorded at 18 frames per second and played back at that speed. In the 1930's, they decided to improve the quality by recording at 24 frames per second and cinemas everywhere renewed their projectors almost overnight.
Many unreleased films had been recorded using the old 18 fps format yet they were still shown in cinemas at 24 fps making them appear to run much faster than they should. This practice continues to this day and I cannot understand why they cannot devise a method of screening them as they were intended to be screened - at the right speed!! :tony: :tony: :tony: :tony:
