Post by: GSS on July 31, 2004, 15:29
this is measter at gss', i'm trying to set up a network for him, the computer can find eachother, but they keep saying they don't have permission to access eachother. i can't figure out why they're doing this, i've had a look through the setting on both pcs, but can't find any reason for them to be doing this.

Hi Measter, check that the firewall isnt stopping it by disabling it temporarily and if on XP then it may have enabled its own firewall on the LAN when you ran the wizard so check in network connections on each pc for that too.
If its still not allowing access, check on each shared folder on each pc that the permissions are set correctly in p
Properties then Sharing, under Sharing and Security.
Tick "Share this folder on the network" and if you want to send files to that pc also tick "Allow network users to change my files".

Moving this to Internet Access & Networking  :)

on one pc yes, but i dunno about the other one. when i try to look on the user settings window, it pops up and error.

hmm, i just checked to see what teh error was, and it let me in fine. anyway, yes, both pc's have just the one account, which is an admin.
