how do you check the kind of processor on a comp and its speed without depending on the system properties?and anyway ive heard that sometimes the os gives the wrong specification.I dont want to open the case to physically check the processor type ,since it aint my comp!!
by checking system properties, i only got the fol::
x86 family 6 model 8 stepping 3
at/at compatible
130,608 kb ram
free space 5gb
from the first line am not to sure if i can really say what processor he has...so anyone!??? ???

It should show in the first screens as the pc boots, sometimes on faster pcs it flashes past too quickly to read so be ready with the Pause/Break key to freeze it so you can read it easily.
The other way is to install a program such as Si Soft Sandra or one of its free alternatives such as Aida or Diag available from :

thanks...i tried checking while it was booting and well...as u said it it displayed the stuff too first.i then checked the cmos setup where i found the info.so thanks for ur advice!!!
