Title: Overclocking
Post by: TR on September 28, 2004, 19:12
Ok..I have itchy fingers with an Overclocking Question ?  ;D

Just need to know something  ;)

Asus Mobo with 2500 Barton

When I very 1st booted up the pc it went straight into Bios and one of the 1st things I did was set the CPU speed to 1800 out of a list from 1100 through to 2200.
What I need to know?? what would happen if I set it to 2200 from 1800.

Here is an CPU-z of my present config.

I tried to set a barton up at 2200 once and it wouldnt let me install XP on it at all.
I cant remember what it did now but it wouldnt complete the installation.
You would probably find the temperatures going through the roof and maybe some system instability but seeing as you have your temp monitor and variable speed fans, why dont you suck it and see  ;)
Just keep your eye on the temeratures and dont let them get too high or you risk frying the chip, and fried chips are always better from the chip shop rather than in your pc :)

Have you no sense of adventure  ;D

The mobo has a high temp cut out set at 75c..so if it does go overtemp the PC shuts down  plus I think Asus has a default setting somewhere when a failed OC goes wrong  ;)
