Hi all ;D
Having problems Syncing my PDA to the new computer..its worked ok on my Ex works pc and my old PC at home? but the new one it doesn't want to know using the direct sync using Com1.
Have been to Palm website and gone through their help/trouble shooting guide and have come up against "is the IRQ assigned"..WTF? how do I know lol..anybody have any idea's

Do you have to enable any ports in the BIOS?
I dunno.....stab in the dark.... :)
-
I have checked that Hiatus..but will double check later when I shut the puter down for a rest ;)
-
Everything on that side of the Bios OK, looked in Everest Com1 shows up in there ok. Looked in WINMSD..IRQ shows up as no4 running ok.
Dont know what or where else to look
-
NE Body got any ideas.. been racking my brains for the last 3 hours, uninstalled reinstalled reebooted in both the logs it shows thay have made contact but no sync :-\
-
Sorry Hookie, its not something I have ever played with, I think this is possibly a Dack or Sean jobbie :(
-
The stoopid thing is Sandra? I have loaded it on 2 computers at work and 2 at home with no troubles what so ever..until I tried on this new computer.
This is the Log off the PC: The log file C:\Palm\Terryr\HotSync.Log cannot be found.
So it must have shook hands at some stage?
-
What about the Baud rate? might have a play with that ;D
-
It's not your router firewall is it, Hook?
-
Wouldnt have thought so Simon, as its a local connection through Com 1 directly to my PDA..but you never Know ::)
-
I think that Simons possibly pointed you in the right direction, but as he often does at work hes taken a wrong turn ;)
You have SP2 on dont you Hookie ?
Maybe if you disable that and see if it allows it to synch and if it does then its just a case of configuring XPs built in firewall.
The firewall can block LANs via ethernet and USB so presumably it can do that on the COM ports too :)
-
That was one of the things I had done this afternoon was to allow Hot sync manager to allow connection just in case :D

What model of PDA is it?
Reason I ask is there seems to be a problem with SP2 and the Hotsync software for some users over on the Pdastreet forums - affecting Sony Clie, Z1 etc.

Seems to have occured mostly since SP2

Dack..cheers for the links.
I have 2 cables 1 with cradle and 1 with direct connection, they both work from my ex works PC so I know they work ok.
Cheers 8)

I spoke to a friend tonight who had the same problem last week with his Hookie.
He said he had to reinstall the drivers then it synched straight away ???
-
Just for your info I had the same trouble here, (different pda) it works on my sons computer but not on this one, I just think this puter is heading for the scrap heap
-
I think?? its COM1 not working >:( but I could be wrong...I normally am :P
Have sent Novatech a ticket to see what they say?
Just wondering though looking at the manual ::) :o if the IRQ assignments for this motherboard are shared and I have a card on PCI slot 3 shows its shared and IRQ 4 is on the same shared assignment or am I barking up the wrong tree as usual :-\ would it help if I moved one of the PCI card sto another slot? dont realy want to mess with anything now the PC is settling in well apart from the COM1 ::)
