Title: dvd drive does not read discs

My dvd drive combo does not read dvd's but does all the rest read write all other cd's.
HELP

It has not worked for about a year.

How old is it ?
Some of the older combis give up on the DVD reading side but carry on being able to read and write cds ok  :(

Fortunately DVD roms are very cheap now and even DVD writers are a lot cheaper now than CD writers were a few years ago  :)

Have u tried using one of those disc drive cleaners?


I think thats what I have to do with mine...it's been acting up, and only 1/3 of the time actually plays a DVD.  >:(

Do you have a DVD software installed on your PC to enable the player to play?

You can install, for instance: "CyberLink Power DVD".

Get it from here as a trial version, as a start:
