My problem is that below the original adress bar in Internet Explorer there's now an extra from "MEGASEARCH".
I can remove it by Show/Toolbar and then unchecking it in the list, but yet it returns the next time I open up Explorer.
Any ideas........ anyone????

Petter Hi and welcome to Pals ;)
I am not an expert on this 8)
It sounds like you have some spyware type stuff on your task bars and might have to run a program called High Jack log in which you will need a techie read the logs once you have posted it.
Have you ran Adaware or Spypot S&D yet??
-
nah i dont.
shouldn't there be some file that you can erase manually?
-
Just done a Google on megasearch? and it comes up as a Trojan and it recomends running trojan hunter or HJ Log. Sorry I can't be more helpful on this Petter but a techie will be along shortly.

Ok man I'll try that, or just hide it in a corner.
Appreciate the help Hookster.

Download:
Hijack This (http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/hijackthis.zip)
And/or
Ad-aware SE (http://ftp://ftp.download.com/pub/win95/utilities/aawsepersonal.exe)
...I can't get the adware link to work, but you can download it from http://www.download.com (http://www.download.com). Just search for Adaware, it will probably be at the top of the list. (Ad-Aware SE, Ver 1.05)

Hi Petter,
It keeps coming back probably because it's lodged in your registry. Try running Ad Aware and Spybot in Safe Mode (with System Restore disabled in XP / ME), and see if that removes it, if not, try running Hijack This, and 'Fix' anything relating to "Megasearch". If you're not sure what to fix, you can save the HJT log and post it on here, then one of our esteemed techies will look at it for you, and tell you what to remove. Links to above, below:-
Ad Aware (http://www.lavasoft.de/)
Spybot S&D (http://www.safer-networking.org/)
Hijack This (http://tomcoyote.com/hjt/)

Thanks for the ideas.
However, found it in programs folder as an installed program. Probably did that by itself.
Also found a bunch of other nasy stuff on the PC while doing a trojan search... all taken care of now.
My first time using this forum... you're nice here, I like that. Hopefully i won't need to come back. Maybe just for chatting ;)
