hey - I'm just trying to get on all the boards
I'm sure that my computer doesnt' really like my firewall, it works fine but I'm sure its slowed down the start up.
Its Mcafee and I'm running XP ! (not ME) hehe
I also have ad-aware, spybot and aol spyware protection. Is this overload?
Or do you think I should put norton on, I have it somewhere, ME didn't like it.......

I've never had anything but trouble with Mcafee, whenever I have tried to install it on any machine, so have never actually seen it fully working! I don't think what you are running is overloading anything at all, Michelle, but perhaps Mcafee just takes a while to load all the definitions and settings. I have to admit, since installing Norton 2005, my start up has also slowed, but it's not really a problem, compared to the trouble caused by not having adequate protection. If it's just the start up it's affecting, don't worry about it - just make a cuppa while your PC is starting! 8)

aol spyware protection... eww this could be the problem.. i have heard bad thing about this software (from family who used AOL till I convinced them telewest was a better option).
maybe check to see that you havent blocked any websites?

You mean that aol spyware protection can be disabled? Once aol places anything on your machine it's there to stay! Unless you replace your hard drive of course! :chuckpc:

Have you tried disabling XP built in firewall Michelle. It could be conflicting with McAfee. :)

oh did I post this somewhere already? lol oh well. I said.......
Its not really a problem I guess, its just slower than it was.
I wondered that lona, I did disable the xp one when I set up the network but is there somewhere else I should disable it?

Go into Control Panel then Windows Firewall and you can turn it off completely in there Michelle :)

Cheers Sandra, I'll do that then :)
