Just turned on my new build desktop but found the cpu cooler doesnt run shoud it run permanently??no action except small jerk when first powered up....???????????
-
Yes it should run continously although it could be a variable speed one but it would never be meant to stop intentionally.
Is it a new PSU, I had a low powered PSU doing that recently, it didnt have enough power to start the pc so it tripped out and just made the cpu fan do about a quarter turn each time I pressed the start button :?

yes its a new build...the fan runs fine if i pug it in elsewhere on the board for case cooling slot...?????brand new 500 watt supply

Do you get any beeps or anything on screen or is the pc just dead ?
If its dead then check that the Clear CMOS jumper is set in the run postion.
