Title: Microphone Interferance

Hello

I recently bought a new headset which had an attatched microphone but whenever I use a voice program such as ventrillo or teamspeak, the microphone seems to pickup interferance or static from the air.
The room im in is silent and empty except for the pc which is remarkably quiet. Ive tried speaking into it at different positions and using the voice programs to alter codecs etc but nothing seems to work. The headset is an Icemat Siberia headset with the following specs

HEADPHONE:
Frequency resp: 18-28.000 Hz
Impedance: 40 Ohm
SPL@1kHz, 1V rms: 99 - 104dB
Cable length: 1,0+1,8=2,8m.
Jack: 3,5 mm. + 6,3 mm. converter.

MICROPHONE:
Frequency Response: 80-15.000 Hz
Pick-up pattern: Sensitive uni-directional
1V/P@1kHz: 38dB

My pc is a Dell 2.4ghz, pentium4 with SoundMAX Digital Audio soundcard.
This may seem like a small problem but any help will be greatly appreciated.

Click on your speaker icon in the task bar and open your volume control panel.
Then click on Options/Properties.
Select recording and then go to Advanced in the microphone settings and check that the Mic Boost box isnt ticked, that can cause the problems that youre experiencing.
