Title: cpu clock ratio
Post by: peruvianpisco on February 14, 2006, 14:15
Hello
There is something i don`t understand, i got Award software- cmos setup, i got cpu host clock 100 and cpu clock ratio X4  , well, but no matter if i change this value, always i got 100 x 12 ( the maximum because i use celeron 1,2 ghz).. i don`t know how this value is unable to change, the manual of my jetway mobo doesn`t say anything about multiplier jumpers. just bus clock.
This 100 x 12 appears in POST and Everest , so it`s real...what`s happening?

Thank you in advance

Some CPUs are locked and you need to unlock them in order to alter the multiplier.
Different CPUs use different methods and some cant be unlocked.
Its not something I have ever done though.
I prefer to leave the CPU settings at default as that causes less problems usually.

Ok, thank you, that explains all...so that is the reason why it can`t be used with mobo supporting less than 1 ghz, with the same socket, or am i wrong and this is another of my newbie stuff? :D
