Hi all
Just a silly thing but its bugging me now lol
When I start up the computer I have to press the button on the monitor to start it up, its like its in sleep mode? It has an orange light on and when its on it has a green light.
I've tried looking in the settings but it all seems ok.
I dunno if its something to do with ATI or maybe my screensaver? :dunno:
Any idea would be appreciated, thanks :)

I just tried turning off the screensaver and restarting and I realised the monitor says something as its switching off...........
No Signal Input
It then switches to like a sleep mode and I have to turn it off and on for it to come on.
This doesn't sound good........... Hopefully its just a setting. :dunno:

How is it connected? I assume it's powered from the PC PSU? I have just had a look in my Power Management settings, and can't see anything that might stop a monitor starting. :dunno:

Yeah I'm the same........ funny thing is - I would have thought if there was no signal input the monitor wouldn't work.
Unless it just says that because the computer is off before the monitor ? Then I guess its not getting power?

Mine says no signal input as well, Michelle and I switch monitor off. I always switch monitor back on before I reboot again.

hmmmm thats funny lona, surely it shouldn't have to be like that?
I know its not a big problem but something isnt right surely ?

It shouldnt be like that Michelle but sh*t happens :(
Sometimes a monitor isnt detected by the graphics card if its not switched on when the pc boots for some reason.

ah so you think just leave well alone sandra.
Well I can't see a solution ....... and its working fine apart from that.
So thanks.........maybe we should leave it at that, unless someone else has an idea :dunno:

I am back to this one now because the darn monitor won't switch on at all now, it stays with the orange light on and won't switch on. I think its the switch ? Its about a year old I think must check when I got it.
I have a spare crt monitor (very old) but that doesn't appear to work in anything but safe mode which is clear as day - lol - otherwise i have like four images of my desktop and its all full of lines I can just about see to shutdown. (I guess its something to do with ati ? )
Any idea's on either of the above would be appreciated. :)

If the orange light is on then presumably that means its switched on but its not getting the signal from the pc to bring the screen to life.
As you say the CRT works in safe mode then its looking like its possibly a driver issue for the GFX card as safe mode doesnt load the full drivers for the GFX.
I cant understand why youre not getting the same results on both monitors though.
Try going into the Device Manager while in Safe Mode and uninstalling the display adaptor.
When you reboot into normal windows it should try and reinstall them and hopefully start working.

Ah - Okay thanks sandra I'll try that now.
I did try updating the drivers but it said i had most upto date ones. :bawl:
I did try the LCD monitor on another computer and it was the same but I guess it wouldn't have the correct drivers on there anyway would it.
Anyway hopefully your idea will work. Thanks again for your help

Ok the CRT monitor is working, first it came up with a smaller res and said do I want to reset setting for this to work I said reset and now its HUGE! But I can see it at least.
It said it had updated drivers for ATi
So does that mean the other monitor might work and how do I go about it? As if it asks me anything on the LCD one I can't answer to reset or anything or do you think it might just work?
(update I changed the res and other thingy and its ok now on the crt)

I think it is goosed (or words to that effect) I tried it again and nothing, it doesn't even switch off the orange light just stays there, its been going weird for some time, it did this before and I unplugged it and plugged it in again and it worked. But that didn't work this time.
I guess there is no point getting it fixed?

If the LCD didnt work on a different PC and wont work on the one thats now working ok with the CRT, then its a fault on the monitor or maybe with its lead, not the pc or the drivers.
Most LCD monitors have a seperate lead from the monitor to the pc, not fixed as the CRT ones were.
If yours is seperate then it may just be a faulty lead.

If it is goosed then there's a clicky in the whistle icon on my last post in case you didn't pick up on it :clever: :dunno:
