I have friend that is getting wireless internet
he is close enough he wont ne3ed a wireless bridge to connect
his problem is once he connects the first computer to the internet it uses his ip address to connect.
he has a second computer he want to use the same internet on
how can he connect to his wireless intenet with the second computer without a router or another wireless net card
-
Hi davy
He can make what is called an adhoc connection. Here is the link that tells you how to set it up.....................

thanks lona
it looks like it might work
the service charges per computer ip address
but he only uses one computer at a time
they are both on the same monitor
-
using the same monitor shouldn't make any difference davy. Let me know how you get on. :)

I have to go do it this weekend
and i will surely let you know
i knew i could install two lan cards and run a cable between the two computers
but i wasnt sure how i could use the internet through the first computers ip address
-
The LAN network between the two pcs will be in the range of 169.xx.xx.xx whereas the network between the main pc and the modem/ wi fi access point will be the one that the ISP assigns for the WAN.
The ISP wont know that you have 2 pcs on the network as it will only detect up to the modem and both pcs can use the net at the same time as long as the pc thats connected to the modem/wi fi is switched on.
