Don't know if it has already been brought to the attention of the forum, but this is a cracking little free download.
monitors upload/ download usage, on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. You can also set usage alerts to warn you if your likely to exceed your cap usage allowances.
NetMeter (http://www.metal-machine.de/readerror/index.php?cat=1)

Ah, that will be very handy for those on capped packages, and I may well be one of them, if I end up switching from Pipex.
-
Zen email you when you are at 50% 75% and 90%.
You can also login to your account and check your upload and download rate.
You are not penilised for your upload rate but all downloads are counted regardless of time of day or night.
-
Yeah my ISP also have a control panel where you can check your usage if you are on a capped package and will send out an advisory email if you get close.
another good point to switch Simon :) :)
-
Well, at the moment, I don't have to worry about it, as I am 'unlimited' with Pipex, but there are other reasons for considering changing.
-
My ISP also send emails, plus in the control panel you can see your usage. But that said this little program is more in depth and programmable. I'd suggest you give it a try, you will not be disappointed, hell it ain't like having a finger amputated. Besides if you ain't impressed just delete it, they have built in that option. Below is my ISP usage display.

I've enough junk on my pc without knowing what I upload and download each day Tony.
As long as I don't go over my limit I don't need to know every wee detail.
That programme is for fusspots like you (https://www.pc-pals.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fsmilies.sofrayt.com%2F%5E%2Fr%2Fdance.gif&hash=3a12ef830a51281511ee8882af5ace2b6af15ec4)

I knew I was a very light user, but until I joined Tiscali I didn't realise how little I do use. Tiscali has a usage monitor and this morning I signed in to see how much I have used since I was transferred over from Wanadoo on the 12th July. My total download/upload usage in the last six weeks is under 2GB! Next time, I think I might go onto one of these pay as you use services, as I will probably end up in credit.
-
Plusnet has a very good BB service for light users Dave. My daughter is with them and it's under a tenner for 2gig. You can make up your own package as you go and pay .78p per gig as you need them.
-
Yes, my cousin is on the £9.99 package, and has had no reason to complain. It's actually 1Gb though, Lona. :)

what is she like, Simon 5" 10" its all the same to Lona.
Listen Hen, I'm no fuss @rse, its just that I wanted to track down where my usage was going, and for that it is an excellent bit of kit. Bring the monitor screen up and you can fair see it rollocking along. :-*

Sorry Simon. My daughter paid the extra 78p to get 2gig.
Tony, I have a life which doesn't include watching my monitor showing what I'm doing every 5 minutes. (https://www.pc-pals.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.world-of-smilies.com%2Fhtml%2Fimages%2Fsmilies%2Fgewalt%2FBIGYuppyAcid.gif&hash=94a587ea4982b8aa396ed194a5968565c423e353)

How are you getting on with Zen, Lona? Have you managed to reach your limit yet? I think I have decided on IDNet (http://www.idnet.com/) as my next port of call. 30GB capped, but uploads don't count, for the fairly usual £24.95 per month for that level of service.
-
So far I have not been over my limit Simon. I only get 20gigs so getting near the end of the month I just watch what I'm doing. Worst I've been so far is 98%.
Now that my son is off to Australia it shouldn't be so bad as you never know what he was downloading. (https://www.pc-pals.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdoom3.planet-multiplayer.de%2Fforum%2Fhtml%2Femoticons%2Fspamm.gif&hash=8e7c8fb91142460f4db8e147a77b5fe9acb4861a)
-
Well, I think I should be pretty safe with 30GB, and hopefully the speed will be better than Pipex ever managed. ::)
-
Never heard of IDnet. Watch out it's not a cowboy outfit you're joining.

They've been around for a while, Lona, and it's only a 1 month contract, so if it all goes pear shaped, I can do a runner. :scoot:
