When I turned on the computer tonight a message came up saying that Comodo Application wasn't working and that I may need to reinstall it, (or words to that effect).
I have gone into it and the Application Monitor, Component Monitor and Application Behaviour Analysis are turned off, and I can't turn them back on? ???
:help1:

Thats usually a case of a virus that attacks the pc by first turning off the antivirus.
Go to www.grisoft.com and download and install AVG free.
Update it and run a scan and hopefully that will remove the virus and then you can run you normal AV prog again and unistall AVG or just use the AVG one as it seems to be as good as any other.
If it does find and remove the virus then do a second scan in safe mode with system restore turned off to make sure that the virus wont reload itself later.

Its hard to find on the grisoft site so heres a link to a direct download :

Thanks Sandra.
I already have AVG and I'm running a scan now.
I was on the computer this afternoon (arvo) and everything was fine, but I allowed fdm access, I had previously denied it access. I don't know what it is and I probably shouldn't have.
Once I, hopefully, get rid of whatever it is, how do I fix Comodo?
-
Perhaps it might be worth a security review, MB, as if you have got a virus, your current AV must have let it through in the first place. :(
I would have thought a simple re-installation would repair Comodo, if it doesn't start working on it's own, after the problem has been removed.

AVG didn't find anything, I'll try a couple of others later.
I'm trying to do the 2007 Australian Citizenship Test. (thanks Simon) ;D

fdm--Free download manager?
make sure windows firewall is turned off
comodo wont run if windows firewall is on
the only time i had a problem with comodo was when i did a restore and it turned windows firewall on
it drove me crazey lol
if that doesnt do it reinstall with the updated program
-
Thanks Dave, I had a look and yes, Windows firewall was turned on. :D
-
comodo should come back up with a reboot
if not then you will have to reinstall
-
Yep, came back with the reboot, thanks Dave.
Windows has been doing some strange things, tonight I couldn't connect to the internet, Michael discovered that the DHCP wasn't ticked. Restarted, windows wouldn't load, Michael turn off the computer, then turned it back on, windows came up with a page saying, (according to Michael as I didn't have time to read it) "Windows has completely screwed itself sidewards and called itself a monkey".
Then it said something about starting normally and he pressed enter, and normal service was resumed.
-
That would be an honest, if unusual, error message MB. ;D
-
its about normal for windows
something crashes here about every 6 months
thats why ive been playing with linux
-
Dont think that Vista has crashed once since installing it last november on this pc.
-
Yes Rik, that's exactly what it said, Michael wouldn't fib. ;)
Dave, I have enough trouble trying to work out windows.......... :o
Windows is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get.
A shame it's not a box of chocolates, then, when you finally get fed up with it, you could eat it.
I'll get around to installing Vista Sandra. Michael is waiting for the first service pack.

Chocolate never lasts long enough near me that I can be fed up with it, MB. :)

Very wise, imo.
