where do people buy their memory from.

Can't remember.  ;D

Are we talking about RAM or portable flash drives, Baz?  For RAM, I would always recommend www.crucial.com/uk, as they will match the memory to your motherboard, or guarantee a refund.  For flash drives, anywhere like www.play.com or Amazon do them, and www.dvd.co.uk often have some good deals on offer.

thanks Simon. its RAM I was wanting to know.

Ive tried the  memory checker on crucial but wondered if anyone knew of other places.

how accurate is the checker though, its for the board in my sons system and when I checked on crucial it says that it doesnt support dual channel but I'm sure it does.

the mobo is  ABIT NF-95 Motherboard   here http://www.mvktech.net/content/view/3345/39/

I see in the link where it says:

Quote
2 X 184-pin DIMM sockets support max. memory capacity 2GB
Supports Dual channel DDR 400/333 Un-buffered ECC memory

I've not used anyone else for memory, so I wouldn't like to offer any personal recommendations, but Crucial do guarantee compatibility or they will refund you.  I did once have trouble finding memory for an unknown brand motherboard, and they were very helpful when I emailed them, so maybe you could drop them a line?

on the website (for the mobo) it says

Quote
2 X 184-pin DIMM sockets support max. memory capacity 2GB
Supports Dual channel DDR 400/333 Un-buffered ECC memory

so thats what you want.

thanks. but the confusing bit is on the crucial checker if you search for the mobo and then go to the specification part theres a question 'does my computer support dual channel memory'    the answer is NO

Ahhh  thanks Lona. will check there too
