I might be about to make myself look stupid  :shuddup:  but is that really what a Jacob's Ladder is?  I've always wondered, but never bothered to find out.  :)

I have never heard it called that Simon.
The only Jacob's ladder that I have come across was the name of some very long and very steep steps in a cliff face in the Cheddar gorge.

Jacob's ladders would be a great trading name for a ladder manufacturing company wouldnt it  ;D

Jacob's Ladder refers to a ladder to heaven described in the Book of Genesis (28:11-19) which the biblical patriarch Jacob envisioned during his flight from his brother Esau:
