I made a rare trip to Tesco's yesterday and was astonished to see HDTVs that are almost as big as our living room wall on sale for £699.  There were some cheaper models too, but the picture quality wasn't as good.

You have to be careful buying plasma and LCD TVs if you are mainly watching SD TV.
If you are paying for Sky UKs HD service you may get a few channels that look good but most will only be in SD so will look very poor when compared to your old CRT TVs.

As Star Treks Scotty used to say "You cannae change the laws of physics"  :)

I'll buy a new tv if i win the lotto or my old one breaks. I still feel HD is overrated.
