I'm surprised Katie Melua is so well represented.

I still can't get used to her voice.

Dislike or what? I think she's great, together with Corrine Bailey Rae and Madeleine Peyroux.

She has a rather unusual timbre (?), which I don't find pleasurable to listen to.

Did you like Maria Maldaur? She's similar in many ways, I feel.

Can't say I've heard her.  I like Eva Cassidy, Kate Rusby, Allison Krauss.

She was a bit of a one hit wonder, Midnight at the oasis.

I loved that track, and her voice. How about Amy then?

Yep. Can't stand her myself. On Eva, of course, we are totally agreed. Linda Rondstadt?

Bit out of my 'time', and a bit too folky for me.

Have you tried the recordings she did with Nelson Riddle? Classic ballads, great orchestration and a whole new side to her voice.

No, it's not the sort of thing I would have gone for, Rik, but I'll see what I can find to download.  I have a feeling it might be a bit too MOR for me.

The other one to try is Diana Krall.

I think I've heard something of hers.  The other one, who's name I can never spell, is Sarah McClachlan.

I love that Linda Ronstadt album, "What's New". A friend is bring it up today so I can put it on my computer. I have the cassette, which isn't much good in the car. And Diana Krall is fabulous, another one I'll be listening to in the car.   :)

Would they be Sentimental Reasons and Lush Life? They sound right up my alley, as well.  ;)
