Just a quick question I am changing my router over.my old one which will stay as a spare...will this keep the ip address etc.so in the event of problems I will be able to just reconnect to the old one ?
Sounds pretty obvious but I just want to be sure

Second hand routers often have the previous user's details still held within, and require a reset before use, so I would think, probably, yes, David, although, of course, the IP address is determined by the ISP, and the router just uses whatever it is, as I understand it. If it came to it, the worst that would be required would be to reset it and start again, which, as you know, isn't a terribly difficult task. If it's just a question of swapping one for another, there shouldn't be any problem reconnecting the old one, if necessary.

They are both now been set for my Idnet Simon I have just reinstated my 2 wire thats all so the Netgear can go back in the wardrobe if ever needed, its ok there is method in my madness ;)
As long as the netgear holds the details that is fine

It will, David. If you want to be doubly sure, save the configuration to your HD.
