That's an incredible photo of the Eagle nebula Sam.  What an improvement over a few short weeks.  That photo of the spots on Mars is fascinating.   8-)

thanks!

Hopefully get another couple of images done before I go....

Oh and that CO2 sublimation is absolutely fascinating!

Oh and talking about possibly interesting results: something I did the other day that should be included in forthcoming issue of Sky at Night (the mag though) http://arxiv.org/abs/0905.4223

Brilliant news Sam.  Dissapointing results though but maybe it's a very peculiar long period variable.  I always think those ancient astronomers had so much time on their hands and had such good sky conditions that it would be folly to dismiss their findings.  Apart from Le Verrier of course.   ;D

indeed, you have to at least not discount them - I have a feeling something is odd about the previous results - but as you say the sky conditions would have been much better. I like to think it has changed since that is by far more interesting! :-D

And Le Verrier - surely you aren't having a dig at the great astronomer who predicted the position of Neptune and then later Vulcan(!).

He had to discover Vulcan otherwise there would be no Spock.  :)x
