Has died. :rip:
-
That wasn't expected, was it? :rip:
-
I haven't read what he died from, but I hadn't heard if he was ill.

In hospital with, amongst other things, pneumonia.

Makes you count your blessings.

The BBC Radio 5 headline said he was best known for "The Equalizer" and "The Wicker Man". 'Sfunny, I always thought he shot to stardom in "Callan".
He had a fine singing voice too. A very talented man who will be missed.
-
Callan, that rings a bell. He was a detective, or something?
-
Or was it Callum?
-
Callan was an anti-hero secret agent, like James Bond but much less glamorous, with a smelly side-kick called 'Lonely'.
-
I don't remember the programme, but I remember the name, for some reason. Perhaps I wasn't allowed to watch it? :dunno:

That is sad news , he was terrific in "Breaker' Morant" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0080310/

I think you'd have been a little too young, Simon. So was I, but I remember my Mum and Dad talking about it, and my Dad rarely found TV worth discussing.

Thank you for reminding us :) . It was indeed a terrific film.

Callan was essential viewing every Wednesday evening if my memory serves me correct. ITV used to produce some very watchable programmes in the early 70's.
-
He was also in Common as Muck, a comedy about dustmen on BBC.
-
Oh I didn't find that at all funny! :(

Oh, I did, it was brilliant! Tim Healy was in that too.
