Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could find out what dark energy is - if it exists at all.  It is the most enigmatic of all the enigmatic things the Universe has thrown at us!   :dunno:

yeah, I get very suspect about it all to be honest - the whole it must be there argument reminds me of the "ether" . I dunno, I'm just not very trusting.

I think that one day someone is going tio say "Oops - we made a mistake and it's just an effect of the expansion of the Universe or some sort of cosmological constant.  They are now trying to say they have evidence of another universe nestling next to ours.  LINK (http://www.newscientist.com/article/mg20427345.000-mystery-dark-flow-extends-towards-edge-of-universe.html) but I can never make out whether Marcus Chown is an astronomer or a spiritualist.   ;D  A lot of his work is just plain daft!

Marcus Chown... only has a masters degree and trust me I've taught students up to that point - some of the misconceptions they have...
