Title: Online Streamed Astronomy Images
Post by: GillE on January 04, 2010, 20:48
Is there anywhere online which streams live astronomy images?  If I wanted to look at (say) Betelgeuse live and zoom in, could I?

Clive was nursing the baby back to sleep.   :D  I'm sure Sam will come up with something better but I can offer you the Cambridge All-Sky camera situated at the Institute of Astronomy.  The url is http://www.beskeen.com/allskycam.shtml but be warned there are a few dead pixels which can be confused for stars.  You can't zoom in though.  Cambridge probably has the greatest number of cloud free skies anywhee in the country.

you could use wikisky, which has archived images... or if you wanted to take your own the bradford telescope (http://www.telescope.org/) offers a service where you request observations takes a while though.
