I'm not surprised at this development which now seems to be the only way forward. Obama doesn't seem to be interested in space exploration or the benefits derived from it.

exploration is key to our nature - but we should be sending robotic probes IMO.
Oh and its worth pointing out, as the great Alan Bean said "it tooks 127 after Columbus for the establishment of Jamestown"
