I'm surprised there has been nothing said about this on here.
I thought it was very interesting and especially the bit about Saturn's 62 moons, including Titan with it's earth like atmosphere.
The Richard Hammond thing on after it about what we can't see as our eyes are too slow was interesting too. :nerd:

I've recorded them but haven't watched any yet.
-
not noticed it being in the wrong place :-D
Though Titan, well that's very methane... possibility for life though.

Me too, and probably won't get round to seeing them for months. The guy who does the astronomy programme seems very enthusiastic. :)
-
He was a rock star before he turned astronomy professor. 8-)

Simon's going to be disappointed when he doesn't find Brian May now, Clive. :)
-
There does seem to be a trend, doesn't there? Who was he with, Clive?

They're not a bloody rock band! No wonder I'd never heard of him! ;D
-
;D

In 1989 Cox was a member of the rock band Dare[5] fronted by former Thin Lizzy member Darren Wharton.

Bugger! I have that album too! ;D

Not a rock band. The reason labour on in power - well they helped...
Oh and he's not an astronomer either. He's a particle physicist. We had him talk as part of our evening talks... t'was ok from what people tell me. I organised it but missed it due to being at the 50th anniversary of the Lovell Telescope party.

Glad you had your priorities right Sam. Was the great man himself there or has he gone to that great space telescope in the sky? :dunno:
-
The guy did a good job at presenting it.
D ream had an almost "classic" hit song which we will all hear from time to time...

That was all i remember of them though ::)
-
Dare also had a 'hit' of sorts, which Wogan used to play quite a bit, but I can't remember what it was called now. Wild Horses, or something.
-
Bernard Lovell is still going strong!! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bernard_Lovell He must be 97 now. I told you astronomers live forever!
-
But does his telescope still extend? :o:

Indeed he was there it was a fantastic experience to hear him talk - he stood there for half an hour without stopping. Great. The scary part was me sitting the row behind and him turning around and asking what I do! :woot:

Cool! :)

That was a great privilege Sam. He is one of the true greats of radio astronomy.

indeed - an inspiration to us all.
