NASA's Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity, now in its seventh year on Mars, has a new capability to make its own choices about whether to make additional observations of rocks that it spots on arrival at a new location.

What a credit this little Mars rover has been to NASA. Mars used to be the Achilles heel for space probes but Opportunity has shown those days are behind us.

indeed... and should show that more exploration by rovers is possible. I say send one to the Moon!

Yes those large asteroids are just begging to be explored. :)
