Title: Wave Goodbye to E-mail?

Late last year, getting a Google Wave invite was reminiscent of getting a Cabbage Patch Kid in 1983. It was the newest gizmo everyone just had to have. As a geek, I was one of the kids begging the loudest. Thankfully, one of our readers from across the pond (Paul Howard, thanks!) sent me an invite, and I cleared my schedule for the product that was going to change the way I communicate. Only, it didn’t.

I still don't get it.

I've used it a few times and though it has some cool features - e.g. mathematical function showing etc, its just not going to replace my normal tools and it really just hasn't with many at all.

Back in '85, I discovered the one fatal flaw in my cunning plane. I didn't know anyone else with an email account. ;D

Bulletin board access back then was charged at national rates and was just 9 bp/s if I remember correctly.  I used to belong to one called Starbase 1 and half the time it was impossible to log into it.

Cheap at half the price.  That's what my AOL connection cost.
