Our local conservation group is also doing their bit to extinguish the species.  They recently ordered contractors to reduce the bracken and gorse in a nearby nature reserve, but bulldozers left it looking like a lunar landscape.  Here's a fairly ropey picture (taken with my back-up mobile) that shows a Sand Lizard and Slow-worm before they were evicted.  The conservationists are now an endangered species.

argh
