Title: Hello Dolly!
Post by: Simon on August 28, 2010, 18:08
I have been asked to find the soundtrack to this You Tube video, in download form, and have drawn a blank.  Does anyone recognise who the artist might be, which could narrow down the search?

There's no obvious vocalist, so it may be a big band recording, either put together for line dancing or a 'songs from the shows' medley.

Some possibilities here:

I think I've found an instrumental version:

I wonder if the vocals have been added on 'karaoke' style?

I don't think that's the same orchestra, sounds more like strict tempo to me.

I thought it sounded the same, but I've only heard the clip.

It difficult to be sure, the acoustic affects it so much.

No, just re-listened. The YT clip is strong on brass, the Play.com on woodwind.

I didn't listen that closely.  ;)

I think the YT clip is a show band, the Play.com a dance band. I could be wrong, though, but they're not the same.

I'll take your word for it.  :)

It's normal for songs to be recorded by some obscure band in strict tempo if the intention is that they will be for dancing.

If you want, the chances are that I have this tune in strict quicktime tempo (which is what it sounds like) somewhere on a backup HDD.  Let me know privately if you would like me to hunt it out over the next few days.
