Scottish singer songwriter best known for the 70s hits 'Baker Street' and 'Right Down the Line', and as part of Stealers Wheel, 'Stuck In The Middle With You' which was later immortalised for new generation in the film Reservoir Dogs.

I suppose the biggest shame is that so many big names turn to drink or drugs to cope and, as a society, we fail to help them. :rip:

But he's not really been in the public eye for decades.  I know everyone knows Baker Street, but I wouldn't have recognised him on the street.

True, but so many people can't cope with fame, eg Amy Winehouse. Society has no way of helping them, just as it doesn't for the poor drug addicts and alcoholics.
