A "stunning" closeup released this week shows part of the Tarantula Nebula, as seen by the Hubble Space Telescope.

The odd thing is, Sam, that it looks awfully like 'artists impressions' that I grew up with as a kid. It says a lot for their work.

we did have some idea of what things would have looked like then though... but you are right some of the artistic renditions really weren't bad.
