Scientists have set a new data speed record using just a single laser to transmit the equivalent of 700 DVDs in one second.

Once we get speeds like that, probably not in our lifetimes, I wonder if normal TV broadcasts will cease?

I daresay Virgin Media will be offering it by the end of the year. You'll reach your download limit in a nanosecond then be traffic shaped to near dial up speeds as they do with all their other tiers.
