In case anyone is wondering if the hype surrounding the film Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy is justified, we saw it last night and believe that it is. It's a top line of quality British actors with powerful performances from Colin Firth, Kathy Burke and Mark Strong but head and shoulders above the whole cast is Gary Oldman. If you see only one film this year, see this one.

Thanks for that Gill - we will almost certainly see it. We saw Jane Eyre last week but it was painfully slow and they missed huge parts of the book out. A bit disappointing.
-
I was looking at a trailer for that last night. Looks good. :)
-
hmmm - I'd decided it wasn't one to go watch in the cinema (given how expensive it is now) but might take another look at it.
-
We saw the film at Birmingham Great Park. It only cost us £12 (and shrapnel), which I don't think is expensive for a night out nowadays.
-
Oh - the cinema was open in the evening ?
-
Definitely past your bedtime, Clive. ;D
-
Rik would have spent that (and the rest!) just on food! ;D
-
This is true. Very true. ;D
-
We never buy snacks at the cinema - too expensive and far too unhealthy. I usually sneak a few biscuits into my bag or coat pocket instead, just in case either of us should feel peckish.

Crumbs!

We always go on a Wednesday afternoon because we can get concessions. :)x If we went on a Wednesday morning we could see a film and have a cup of tea with biscuits for £3.50 but it will be an older film.
-
I suppose it keeps old people off the streets.
-
It's probably cheaper than paying to have the central heating on at home.
-
:)x

Especially now that the winter fuel allowance has been slashed! :bawl:
-
You'll just have to burn some banknotes instead, Clive. ;D
-
What an excellent idea! Far cheaper than burning gas!
