When I were a lad, our Mam'd send me down to t'corner shop wi' a bob, an' I'd come back wi' five pounds o' potatoes, two loaves o' bread, three pints o' milk, a pound o' cheese, some Spangles, a stick o' liquorice, a bottle o' Tizer, a packet o' tea, an' 'alf a dozen eggs.
Ya can't do that now - too many blinkin security cameras.

ah spangles , anyone remember the packs with the mystery flavour sweet in ?
-
Actually, no. :dunno:
-
The sweets were individually wrapped in stripey wrappers but every pack contained one mystery sweet wrapped in a plain wrapper with question marks on it. I think :bawl: tell me i haven't imagined it.
-
I have to admit, I do only just remember Spangles, but I can't say I remember 'mystery' ones. I expect Clive and Dennis will. ;D
-
Sorry Dave, I have never heard of mystery spangles. Over to Den! :dunno:

Panic not Dave, you still have your marbles. A quick google search revealed this:

;D

There should be more grapefruit flavoured sweets. 8-)

Phew  I hasten to add i can barely remember them and probably shouldn't have been eating boiled sweets at that age ;D
-
I vividly remember choking on a boiled sweet when I was about six years old, and being too scared to eat one for years after!
-
I used to love the Old English ones and certainly remember the opaque mustard coloured one, although I cannot remember what flavour it was. ;D
-
Oh yes, I loved the Old English flavours too. The mustard coloured opaque ones were probably butterscotch.
