Title: new mobo/cpu/memory - system not booting

hey again

just got my asus p4pe mobo, p4 2,4 and 512mb ddr ram. installed everything correctly, pressed the ON switch...........nothing!

my power switch is connected correctly to the mobo and the mobo gets power(green led is on)

any ideas?

Ok if you didnt get the initial BEEP its usually a memory fault.
Is it a new stick?Can you try a different one?
Have you got just one stick in?Can you try it in different slots?
Its got to be a memory fault Skurken,I am 99% sure of that  :(

ive already tried a different slot for the ram..... its a new stick

also the fan doesnt start.....neither the psu one nor the cpu

That sounds more like the power isnt getting connected properly then but cant think why.
Is it in a case you have used before with same power supply previously used?

Just come across this and I remember hearing about this before do you know which voltage your AGP card has Skurken?


 AGP Warning LED
ASUS has designed into this motherboard an AGP Warning LED. The AGP Warning LED automatically stops you from turning on your system with incompatible voltage AGP (3.3V) cards, and protects from permanently damaging your motherboard.

Can you let me know which card you are using if you are unsure of the voltage and I will see if I can find it for you  :-*

Skurken, check if the CMOS jumper on the motherboard is set to closed. The mobo will not boot if it is.

This has caught me a few times in the past ::)

hey again....

It was a faulty memory stick after all.

Now everything is working perfectly after 2months of head-scratching
