At a recent wedding in Essex, I whispered to the bloke next to me, "Isn't the bride a right ugly dog?"

He said, "Do you mind, that's my daughter you're talking about!"

I hastily said, "I'm sorry, I didn't know you were her father."

"I'm not," he replied, "I'm her mother."
