I dont no if anyone would no the answer to this but if you could give me a few answers to try and correct it. I have a hewlett packard deskjet 970Cxi. Now when ever i try and print something i keep getting this error message:
Error writing to LPT1: for Document xxxxxxxxx: This operation returned because the timeout period expired.
Do you wish to retry or cancel the job?
When ever i click retry it comes back with the same answer. All leads are in and linked. Any ideas?
Thanks Mark.

Does it print a test page ok or does that time out too Mark?
If you go to Control Panel then right click on Printer then Properties it should give you an option to print a test page.
Also got Device Manager and see if there is a yellow ? or ! next to it,that would probably indicate that the printer drivers needed re installing :-*
