Title: disconnecting from internet

nearly every time i use the internetmy modem loses it's connection, it connects into my pc usb port, and and into the phoneline

i keep re-intalling the software but the same thing happens, i use freeserve broadband adsl, the lights meant to be green all the time which means i'm online, but it keeps going red meaning i'm offline

Sorry to hear that you are having problems GSS  :(

Can you tell us some more details?

Have you just got on ADSL or have you had no problems with it for ages and it has just started happening recently?
Which make of PC/Motherboard are you using and which modem?
As some ADSL modems have known issues with certain motherboard/chipsets.

ok it has just started happening recently no had ADSL a while make of PC make sony 2 months old . Motherboard i don't know i got a freesever speed touch adsl usb modem hope this is a help

It wont be what I was thinking of at first then GSS  ???

Have you installed any new programs just prior to this starting to happen?

Have you got a LINK status on your PC that tells you if the ADSL is on line even thought you are not connected to it?

i didn't install any new programs when it started
yes i got a link on my pc its green when i am online
and yellow offline

Have you checked the ISP status page to see if they are having any problems?

When I had an adsl modem the link status light would stay green to show that the line was ok and connected to the exchange,so it may well be a line fault and not your PC.

Just a thought,you havent got your e mail set to run on startup and hang up after checking/sending/receiving mail have you ?
