My friend just got a message from msn staff on messenger
NET Messenger Service Staff says:
You are running a version of messenger that requires an immediate security update. Please visit http://messenger.msn.com/Help/Upgrades.aspx to complete the update.
he doesn't have the new version of msn but this is a bit odd isn't it? An instant message like that? Is it safe to do, the address looks valid tho doesn' it?

I think that's very strange, Big_Boss and I both run the newest version and we've been on basically all the time for the past week and we ain't had that
-
Its extremely odd to have that, and ive been running MSN6 since it came out (months)....
If he really wants to upgrade i would download the full version from microsoft, then you can be sure it will not feck your PC up...

I think its ok Michelle he must be on version 4 I think as Scrumpy Jack had to update last week to be able to continue using messenger.
It links to a legitamate MSN site so I think hes safe enough, it just allows an update intead of a compelete download :)

I seem to remember that Microsoft are trying to push everyone to newer versions of their Messenger client so they can use a different protocol or encryption or something, basically so they can stop programs like Trillian from connecting to their clients/advertising audience.
Oh yes, just found this (http://pc-pals.com/index.php?board=49;action=display;threadid=6137;start=0)

I used to get that all the time with Trillian (presumambly because they wanted me to use MSN or Windows Messengers instead), but since updating to the newer version of Trillian, the messages have stopped. :D
