Title: sony dcrpc
Post by: daveeb on September 13, 2003, 18:30
bit of a long shot but a friend has got one of these camcorders and has this query.

Anyone know if the 'auto-shut off/standby'feature can be bypassed/overridden? This is the feature that turns off the cam. automatically when unused after appx. 5 minutes. He is trying to record directly onto his computer with the Sony DCRPC 103 but, without film in the cam, it turns off by itself. There's no reference in the manual.

i've tried a camcorder forum, but the only feedback is the sound of the tumbleweed blowing by.   ::)

Hmm.  No idea really Dave.  It's surprising that the auto shut off feature kicks in if the camcorder is active, i.e. transferring data.  Is he certain he hasn't overlooked a setting to disable the auto shut off?  I know it's not the same thing, but my digital camera has an auto shut off, but it is over-ridden as soon as the camera is connected to the PC.

guess the cut off must kick in as there is no tape running. as i say its a second hand problem so i cant check any settings.
