Title: Aol and firewalls

I'm not very familiar with AoL but is a firewall required with it?

AOL is no different to any other ISP so you should always install a firewall.  Win XP does have a firewall built in but it is defaulted to "off" so it needs to be activated if you intend to use it.  However, it's not all that good so it's best that you install Zone Alarm or something similar.   ;)

If you have aol broadband they may protect you with McAfee personal firewall according to their website:

Thanks for the replies. I had thought there might be something in the latest AoL software but I'll grab one of the freebies now.
