Well they're really going to attract top flight, quality personnel with those starting salaries aren't they?
It's no wonder our security services have gone to the dogs >:(

Ah yes, but you do get revolving number-plates and a wristwatch you can talk into. 8)

I can't decide whether I've been had or not! :-[ Knowing Rod, it's got to be a joke, but it does look convincing, until you see that to apply as a Weapons Expert, you have to email Bob Gunning. :-\

I wonder why they only require these languages :
Linguists Full time Arabic (all dialects including North African), Urdu, Persian, Turkish, Punjabi and Russian (with a second language). Ad Hoc/Freelance Kurdish, Bengali, Fujianese and Tamil. Starting salary from £20,100
Are the only threats to us now coming from only heavily muslim populated countries ???
-
No, they aren't very good wages are they ? ! ? ! :o
-
Sure, but spies get to pull loads of quality chicks. Well, in all the films I've seen anyway. I'm not sure how that would work if you're already of the female persuasion, though. 8)

I was just perusing the opportunities and saw the vacancy for Linguists, now there is someone on this forum who would be IDEAL for that post.... wonder if you can guess who i mean ::)
Criteria:
What qualities and skills are needed?
Above all, you need to be a competent linguist who can comprehend written and spoken material in the relevant language. This can either be as a mother tongue or as a second language in which case an honours degree or its equivalent is usually needed.
;)

I'm quite a cunning linguist, but I suspect you're referring to someone else. ;)

Phew! As they aren't looking for Lancashire dialect with a Chorley accent, they obviously haven't caught up with me yet.
