:D :D :D
My gf's lil brother put a bunch of garbage on her parent's comp. Imagine if you clicked yes to install and run every garbage gatorlike product at every website and you get the idea :o
So far I have used the following programs with slight success
Spybot
Registry Mechanic
WinPatrol
Norton Antivirus, Scandisk, Defrag
My gf: "I'm having problems with 'wow' and qksrv and lop. I think I got rid of ezula and ncase by editing hkey. I don't know what to delete with the rest of them. There might be more those are the ones I know of."
Suggestions very welcome, I likely have access to any software which would be useful. Thanks so much again for helping me with my dos games under my other name

Have you tried Ad Aware (http://download.com.com/3000-2144-10214379.html?tag=lst-0-1)? That should get rid of a few more for you. ;)

Would it be at all possible to stick to one name, so we know who we're talking to? We find multiple personalities a bit confusing! ;D ;D

Spybot should have cleaned most of those up, just make sure that all explorer windows are closed before running it. Also make sure that it is updated to the latest detections (Online, search for updates).
Could be worth downloading HijackThis from tomcoyote.org/hjt/ (http://tomcoyote.org/hjt/) and having a look at the other nasties that may be hanging around.
Also worth checking an online virus scanner as all scanners tend to miss some that others pick up.

Thanks for the fast response Simon. Got ad aware 6.0, found 149 bad files hahah ;D

I may have to explore these options. We are running ad aware right now and everytime we run it 5 more bad things come up. For example
VX2.betterinternet and Huntbar
going to reset the comp maybe that will help

Hi punk.
 that sounds soooo rude, I'll start again.
Hi punkmartyrguy.
Once you have cleaned them all, it would be well worth your while installing Spyware Blaster. It is free, and prevents most (if not all) of this crap from installing in the first place.

Dack thanks for the info, I ran HijackThis and removed some more items. I also installed spywareblaster so thanks for that ChorleyDave. Maybe now my gf can leave and not worry about her lil bro messing up the computer so bad its at 100% usage 8) Thanks very much all

:heehee:
Chorley is a mid-sized (population 100,000) town and borough in deepest Lancashire, UK.

By the way, :welcome: I presume that as you have a .edu e-mail address in your profile that you are from the USA. Although this site is mainly used by UK based folk, you will find some America based members, along with at least one Parisean (who speaks very good English) and, no doubt members from other English-speaking countries, so you should feel very much at home here.
Just be careful not to upset the blondes.

We almost got rid of everything bad, but we have a wowex 32 trojan that won't go away. One interesting thing is that the WinPatrol program picks up everytime it tries to put a new garbage startup in the registry, so we can stop symptoms (but its a pain). Dunno what to do about this

Good advice ;)
"Ghostly apparitions of Monks at Brinscall Hall have been in local folklore for decades, and countless villagers have reported seeing the spine-chilling spectres over the years." Did you go there yet? hahaha :)

I gotta keep it interesting you know? 8) I forgot my password and could not get the link for having it send me an email to load on this computer.

OK, you could try Anti Trojan (http://download.com.com/3000-2239-10191193.html?tag=lst-0-1), which might find that Wowex32 thing for you. This is only a 14 day trial version, but it might just do what you need.

For manual removal of the trojan. Nice the way it alters your notepad, bat files etc.
