First of all you need to make absolutely sure which version of the motherboard you have. This is usually silkscreened onto the motherboard somewhere. The "revision number" of the board is usually important. If you flash the BIOS with the wrong version, you will almost certainly damage your motherboard :o

If you are sure that Sandra has identified the motherboard version correctly, you will be able to find all of the instructions you need to flash your BIOS at
http://www.ecsusa.com/downloads/k7s5a.html

Make sure you follow the instructions to the letter :)

Bit of info - the current Bios revision is shown on machine startup. It's the date at the top of the screen.

hey promised the earth! Then delivered mud.
Technically it did meet the spec.

When your machine boots it will generally show the bios version in the top l/h corner of your screen.
To be honest I don't think it is the bios. "Flashing" (no pun) can be dodgey.
I don't think the bios needs upgrading (flashing). I think he has stuffed another processor in it & not told the machine, (in it's bios settings, or via jumpers)( fsb, multiplier & all that biz) what it needs!.

BE CAREFULL! flashing roms!. If you have a manual for your motherboard look very carefully. If not type "ECS EliteGroup K7S5A manual" into dogpile.com & hope 4 luck!
It may tell you what you need to know!

If not, find the "guy" & ram(pun) his head in a food processor until he flashes it for you (no pun)
oses are red, oranges aren't!, but what colour are kumquats?
