disabled by your administrator, WHAT?
« on: October 22, 2004, 04:40 »
Hello,

This message pops open only sometimes during installation of software. The complete message reads:

Registry editing has been disabled by your administrator

I also receive different message when I try to press, ALT+CTRL+DELETE :

Task Manager has been disabled by administrator

thus I can no longer close running programs. I have Ad-adware, Spydoctor, Spy Sweeper, Spybot and destroy, PCBugDoctor, and Hijack.exe. I have run all of the above and found your simple problems but none have found the fix for 2 errors.

I never switched on this option and feel this might be due to some kind of viruses/spy ware. Please help with this problem, cause it is preventing me from installing  software.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and lend a helping hand.

Hi Brian and :welcome:

Which OS are you using and are you logged on as admin ?
If you are on XP or ME have you tried using system restore to take it back to a date before this started happening ?
Do you know what the last program was that you installed before you started seeing this message ?

I've found this which might help. But as it is a matter of "Registery", it's better to get the confirmation of a techie:

Hello,

Duh...sorry about not mentioning the OS. I'm running XP Pro and have tried restore. The restore feature also will not allow me to pick a different date. When I go into safe mode,it gives  me two options to sign in, one is the admin and second is the user "Jo". When I start the sys in regular mode, the only user showing to log on with is "Jo".

I have tried running "MSconfig" to see what might be running and nothing shows out of the norm...I dont know what to do, and reallt would like to fix my systm...please help. Thanks again for taking the time.

I cant really think what can be causing those problems  ???
It sounds like a registry problem so maybe running sfc /scannow in Start/Run may repair it, make sure you have your XP pro cd handy in case it needs to copy any files over, presuming your pc wil allow it to do that  ???
