18866 has gone weird
« on: February 19, 2005, 21:39 »
I joined up for 18866 and it was going fine until tonight.

When I try to ring up any of my numbers using the 18866 in front I get a french message then engaged tone.

Where's Joudi when you need him

Now I'm not getting anything at all.  Must be either down or defunct.

Hi Lona,

I had a look on their website to see if they had a 'Service Status' section or similar - but doesn't look like they have.

Have you reported a fault to them?  You can report a fault at...

http://www.call18866.co.uk/customercare.php?act=report&step=3

Hope that is of some use,

DJ

You pay your line rental through BT and your calls to 18866...

Mobiles are 14 ppm peak and 4ppm off peak

You also pay 4ppm on 0845 numbers but i'm sure all charges are cheaper than BT  8)

I know my bill went from £30+ per month for calls i mean to £8+ pm

lol oh okay

Mind you thats no hardship really, you just use BT again innit? Or put off your calls til tomorrow. lol

I've got free calls to landlines on my mobile, but not to mobiles, so thats what I really need to cut down on.

It's too bad to see that difference between France and the UK.

We have here already many french operators since about 2 years, who offer very interesting national and international call for a very symbolic price, similar to your 18866:

http://www.telesoldes.com/

http://www.telerabais.com/

And of course we have other operators who take the telephone line from france telecom, and send an independent bill to the subscriber, like:

Onetel, Tele2, 9Telecom and some others.

We have all those advantages some years ago already. Why BT is so gready to suck your pochets?

That's exactly it Joudi!

BT have a monopoly here and they try and charge as much as they can get away with
Saying that, i know the owner of a large factory here who deal directly with their customers so their phones are buzzing all the time and they get it for 1p per call as long as it's not over 1 hour and that's from BT

For all their advertising, i didn't find onetel any cheaper in practise but i notice a big difference with 18866

Is it any good...ITS BLOODY FANTASTIC.

21st Jan till 6th Feb = 16 days on BT cost of calls £12.02 and I never rang out at peak day time rate if I could help it.

7 Feb to 18th Feb = 18 days using 18866, cost me £1.20 and I ring any bloody time I like.

For instance one call yesterday at peak time lasted  1hr 40 min 46 secs, would have cost me £4.04 with BT, when in fact it only cost me 1p with 18866.

All my mates are on it and all my mastes mates are on it ...so thats six of us in total [he's got four mates the lucky b*st*rd ]

Edit:

Out of that £1.20 two calls were to Orange support on an 0870 number  lasting 9min 45secs in total at a cost of 31p

So the remaining 65 calls including 3 calls to mobiles and one call to Russia cost me in total 89p  :D  :D  :D  :D  :D  :D
