hi, my dad recently bought a wireless router.. the laptop is able to connect and there is a cable for the pc and a cable for the xbox( 1 blue cable and 1 black) the blue cable wrks on the pc or the xbox but the black cable doesnt work on either so only 1 can be used unless we keep switching cables but there is not much point when we have a 4 port wireless router.... we have ntl 750kb broadband but will be upgrading to 2mb and a linksys wireless-g router what should we do???

It sounds like you have one crossed cable and one straight one. Usually its straight cables from a modem or router to a pc but a crossed one if its from pc to pc.
Most routers these days have auto sensing and will actually work on a crossed cable as well as on a straight one.
Does the one that doesnt work have a colured band on it or a label that says its crossed ?
Its probably just a case of getting another straight ethernet cable to connect the second pc/x box at the same time  :)
