Christmas Day date for Doctor Who
« on: November 03, 2005, 13:33 »
Actor David Tennant will make his debut as the new Doctor Who on Christmas Day, the show's official website has said.

The Christmas special on BBC One is expected to draw a huge audience for his debut as the Time Lord.

Ex-Casanova star Tennant, 34, is replacing Christopher Eccleston as the Doctor and will be joined by Billie Piper who reprises her role as Rose.

The new series of Doctor Who, which won three prizes at the National TV Awards last week, returns in the spring.

I don't actually know anyone who sits watching TV on Christmas Day!  Perhaps those who are alone might, but I record eveything to watch later.  Why can't they put the good stuff on between the 27th and 30th, when there's nothing much else to do?

I can remember in olden days we looked forward to Christmas Day specials which were mandatory viewing for most.  Nowadays Christmas doesn't exist in the eyes of the schedulers so it's no wonder nobody bothers to watch.
