But the best tip is to find a forum that will discuss any suspicious activity openly. There is one here in Australia and I always check there first before committing to a purchase.

I use ebay community forums.  You can get valuable information there and users are all experienced ebayers.

I used their forums for a while, but got into trouble for naming suspect sellers, then I got into more trouble for questioning why I got into trouble in the first place :dunno:
